The Last Stand: Union City – Released on Armor Games

Thanks to everyone who stuck around for the last 18 months, it’s been a long road. Thankyou to my testers, the game wouldn’t be in the shape it’s in if it wasn’t for you. Thanks to all my artists, musicians and the guys at Armor Games for their support and input.

Thanks in advance to those who’ll purchase the Survival Kit premium content pack, it’ll allow me to keep making games for you all. Now go and enjoy!

** UPDATE v1.2**
Version 1.2 is live. Has a bunch of fixes and balance changes. This’ll be the first of a few patches over the next few days.
- Menus including the Inventory, Character, Tasks and Achievements now function properly for all users.

The Last Stand: Union City – Open Beta

   Posted by: Con

UPDATE: After a 24 hour run, the Open Beta is finished. Thanks everyone for checking it out!

Welcome! This is the first of two, very short Open Beta testing sessions for The Last Stand: Union City. Starting from the time of this posting, this test will run for up to 24 hours. So enjoy. Now, before you jump in, don’t be surprised if you see something you may not have been expecting because I haven’t mentioned it until now:

The Last Stand: Union City will have Premium Content available.

What does that mean?
Well, for a small price ($5 – $10 USD we’re not sure yet), you’ll be able to get something more than regular players. For an existing example of premium content, check out Gemcraft Labyrinth.

What is the Premium Content?
It’s a collection of exclusive weapons, outfits, storage and backpack increases as well as some gameplay tweaks and a new very different section of map (“Whistler’s Forest”) with it’s own quest line. The content will be available to every character you create and the items will be added to storage when you make the purchase.

How do I get it?
It’s not available right now, but once the game is released, you’ll just need to log into the game with your Armor Games account, then you can purchase it through PayPal.

Why are you making us pay?
I’m not! It’s up to you. What I’m offering is a chunk of extra content that is designed for fans of the game and those who want to extend their playtime a bit longer. You’re free to play the standard version of TLS:UC as much as you want. None of this content, besides Hardcore mode, was ever available in the earlier versions of the game.

I know a lot of you have asked about donating funds to this site, this content will be your chance. The best part is, you’ll get more game out of it! If you’ve got more questions, please feel free to ask in the comments.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE BETA
The game is still in development, as a result you may experience any number of bugs. I am aware of 99% of issues at this point.

- DO NOT POST ABOUT BUGS IN THE COMMENTS
- THE GAME IS NOT COMPLETE, INCLUDING THE ENDING AREAS
- THE FOLLOWING CONTAINS MOST OF THE GAME’S STORY LINE, THERE BE SPOILERS

ANY characters created in this version of the game, WILL NOT carry over to newer versions. So don’t get too attached!

PLAY – THE LAST STAND: UNION CITY – OPEN BETA

So, as stated, Open Beta is on it’s way. It should happen within the next two weeks.

There’s some fairly big chunks of content for me to get in there still, in addition to that we’ll be wanting to test the Armor Games save system that is being put in place. The Armor Game save won’t be compulsory, but it’ll let you play your save from anywhere you can run the game.

In the meantime, I thought I’d give you a list of what to expect in the open beta version.

Fixes
- Inventory rollover bug, for real this time (I think)
- Companion no longer contributes to Achievements
- Inventory health displays show correct amounts
- Achievement counts don’t go past their requirements
- Key closing for Sleep panel
- Area / Task text no longer overlaps
- XP from NPC’s using explosives no longer goes to player
- Day count wasn’t going past 10
- Inventory ammo items show correct ammo stock
- “Missing” ammo bug when changing rooms, fixed

Changes
- Weapons now empty and return the ammo on unequipping and swapping with companions
- Adjusted starting health by reducing it 30%
- Increased the “level” of zombies for all areas

Additions
- Added new ammo types: 40mm Grenade, 50 caliber, RPG round, hand grenades
- New clothing slot “eyes” (yes, sunglasses and bandana)
- New clothing item, goggles
- Whole bunch of new NPCs
- Final areas of the game

The Last Stand: Union City – The Intro

   Posted by: Con

Well, the Work in Progress version anyway. Few little extra touches to add yet, including some “jamming tunes” for the car radio. It’s been fun doing a bit of late night animation bashing again. Obviously some small spoilers about how the game starts out.

On the rest of the game front, I’ve got the Docks street level stuff done and the Stadium NPC’s and storyline mostly sorted out now. I’m closing in on the game’s final chapters now. The open beta is still in the works, it’s looking like it’ll be some time in the second half of June.
