JayisGames.com overlooked my Last Stand games, but have written up a review and walkthrough for Sin Mark. Some interesting comments in there that pretty much reflect what everyone else has been saying
- A levelling system
- A melee attack
- The ability to jump (this one still baffles me)
Either way, it’s a nice bit of press. They also went back and commented on Warfare 1917 too a few months after it’s release. They go through a huge amount of games every month and review with great respect for the casual game format, so go check them out.

With my fourth game out there now, I’d have thought that over time that things might’ve changed. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining here but it seems that whenever I put a game out there’s INSTANTLY calls for a sequel. It’s flattering, yes. On the other hand, it seems I don’t get stuff right the first time around.
It really comes down to how I work I guess. I’m one of those people that struggles to have great conceptual ideas right off the bat. My games tend to start with a small idea (like shooting zombies) and evolve slowly over time and all the way through development.

Early mockup of Sin Mark
Sin Mark is one of those evolutions, it started with the idea from Dan at Armor that we should produce a bow shooting game. I’d come up with the idea of mixing potions to make spells orginally and it was going to be a straight defence game where you defended a castle. That idea got pretty old pretty fast, so I started playing with the character movement and eventually it became the roaming adventure it is now.
So the core idea was there in the beginning but the evolution of it might’ve gone in the wrong direction. I dunno, Last Stand needed a sequel to add features I’d left out due to lack of technical knowledge at the time, Warfare 1917 suffered from that too. Sin Mark needs a melee attack, something that was suggested to me by a friend during the development, but I left it out because I’d wanted to get the game done. There’s a bunch of different reasons I leave things out or don’t implement obvious features, but it generally comes down to the fact that I’m writing different types of code for the first time and it’s hard to get right.
I’m working on a sequel to Warfare at the moment and adding a lot of the stuff that’s been requested, hopefully I can get it “right” this time. Will post more on it and my other new game (which I’m developing at the same time) soon.

After a week of polishing it’s finally done. I’d originally planned to release it before the holidays but after handing the game over to Dan at Armor he managed to break it in so many ways that I’d never seen before (a unique skill he has, and a very handy one at that).
I’m happy with the state it’s in now and glad to see the usual “will there be a sequel?!” questions that pop up after 2 mins of the game being out as it generally means I did something right. Either that or it’s because I constantly have ambiguous endings in my games.
We’ll be running Sin Mark as an exclusive on Armor for a few weeks, then running it everywhere else shortly after. So head over, check it out and enjoy:

Man, I let this one slip. So as those of you who have stumbled upon this site (and you did stumble because the URL hasn’t been posted anywhere), you’ve probably noted the lack of attention to content, news posts and the like. To be honest, I got all worked up about setting the site up then by the end of that few days it was time for me to get back to work on my latest game. Which brings me to…
Sin Mark - My latest creation, is an action RPG’ish bow game. I’m looking at it as my little tribute to the action RPG and MMO genre, Diablo, WoW, Titan Quest etc. It was born out of an idea from Dan at Armor which was to put it simply “a bow game”. I played with a few different ideas at first and I’ll post an evolution of it here once I’m done, but it slowly grew from being a basic defence game into a rampaging action game with tonnes more content that initially intended. It’s been in the works for just shy of 3 months and will be out some time this week early in the New Year on Armor Games.
While we’re here - I get bombarded every day with PM’s and emails from people asking about Warfare and Last Stand, so let’s clear some things up.
Warfare - Will be a series, I’m currently planning the first sequel. It’ll be set in a different time period. It will be the next project I work on once Sin Mark is out.
Last Stand - Last Stand 3 won’t be like the previous 2, at all. Everything you know and love will carry over, it’ll just be very very different. The whole barricade shooting outward thing is just a bit tired, it’s time to break free.
So keep an eye out for Sin Mark in the next week, I’ll get it up here as well as a game guide as soon as I can.
