Who readses the Watchmen.

   Posted by: Con in Uncategorized

When I heard Zack Snyder (300, Dawn of the Dead) was taking on the Watchmen and everyone was clicking their heels about how exciting that was, I was excited for different reasons. I’d not read the graphic novel, but am a big fan of Zack’s work on the afforementioned films. Got myself a copy a week ago and just finished up the final chapter last night.

I’m still putting the whole thing together in my mind, it’s a strange thing because for the first 10 chapters you’re dragged along being thrown somewhat random collections of information that just don’t make sense. Juxtapositions of information flying left right and centre that most of the time just left me in a spin wondering what any of it meant. The social commentary throughout on the other hand is quite relevant at the moment and I can understand why the film has garnered interest, given the current state of the world.

Anyway, looking forward to the film now. All misconceptions that it’s another “superhero” movie are destroyed, thank god. (Edit- with the exception of Iron Man & Dark Knight they’ve mostly been ass)

Please don’t send me ideas. Put them out here if you feel you need to.

I’ve got plenty of ideas of my own, you’re better off using the ones you have for yourself.

Anyway…about those Watchmen…

I might go watch it…what is watchmen about anyway, they look like superheroes but then that guy in the mask says “they will look up at us and shout help, and I will wisper…no” which dosnt sound like a super hero to me…

In order to fully understand Watchmen, you needa read it twice. I read it for the first time a few years ago and didn’t understand it at all, but upon rereading it it made perfect sense.

Yeah Ari, from what I’ve heard Moore has said that it’s designed to be read 4 or 5 times. Guessing I missed a lot of nuance throughout.

What is the book about? Whats the story behind the watchmen?

It basically dismantles everything you about the superhero genre. The members of the Watchmen are just a bunch of disfunctional, retired vigilantes. It starts with the death of a former team mate and rolls on from there.

Hard to say much without spoiling it.

Yeah, I love superheros who are well, not that helpful. I wish, in Ironman, he didn’t like stop making weapons. First he’s bad ass then he turns like superman with the always helping people. I mean what the hell.
Anyway, Watchmen is very unique.

They aren’t THAT old. Rorschach’s like what, 40 something? Who’s your favorite character Con?

I’d have to say Rorschach, he’s as far from what’s expected of a masked hero as you can get. That said, the Comedian is pretty brutal as well.

As great of a character the comedian was, I don’t think that a totally unbiased perspective of him was seen in Watchmen. If he had an actual appearance in something other than a flashback I could probably pass more judgement on him. My personal favorite would have to be Rorschach also. I mean, how can anyone NOT love a judicially conservative psychopath?

Hey Con can I just ask how far are you off from completing your next game? I know you probably hear this all the time..but on newgrounds you said you would have 2 games released within the next 2-3 months, and the 2-3 months is almost up and not 1 has released yet. Sorry I know your probably going to hate me for asking I just love your games and I havnt heard an update in a while.

last stand was the insperation for cod nazi zombies, the only diffrence is that you can move around a lot more and its one player, and your idea just crosses one of those out. Id rather go on my xbox and play the new cod map than play a replica except a flash version.

Have you watched the movie yet? I thought it was pretty good. Not as good as it could have been since I read the graphic novel. I really recommend reading it, its awesome. I would say that if you read the graphic novel first, you will appreciate the movie possibly a bit more. But anyways, if you haven’t read the comic or seen the movie, do so now!

It will be great to have a contact page, could you re-contact me by email please ?

I love your flash games and it could be great to spread the word on one of our brand.

Best regards, F
